Resignation

Resigning is not shameful. Sometimes it simply says: well played, let’s start a fresh one.

Explanation

Giving up is a normal decision in chess.

When a position is completely lost, a player may give up. This avoids playing twenty unnecessary moves when the result is obvious. In serious games, it is even often seen as a mark of respect.

But at first, don't give up too quickly. Beginners miss checkmates, forget queens, and transform winning positions into small accidents. Playing until the end teaches you to defend, to subdue and to recognize real lost positions.

Giving up gives victory to the opponent.
